Vera & Violet is a sister lifestyle blog inspired by our grandmother, Vera (right), and her sister, Violet (left).
Our grandmother and her sister grew up during a time when life was much more simple - when food was home grown and family time was always a priority. We spent our summers growing up with our grandparents on the farm. Instead of spending our summer vacations in front of the TV, we spent our summers canning tomatoes, shelling peas, picking mulberries and learning to call the cows for feeding time!
Our grandmother and her sister were the perfect example of what it meant to be a "lady". They were always dressed modestly and lovely, served others wholeheartedly, were hardworking, and always put family first - including each other!
Inspired by those days of simplicity and the example set by our grandmother and sister, we wanted to create a space that celebrates family and the simple things in life. As sisters who live 4 hours away from each other, we also wanted to have a creative outlet that will allow us to stay connected with each others' every day lives.
So now that you know the inspiration behind Vera & Violet, here's a look at things you will and will not find on the blog.
What you will find:
- Recipes from our grandmother's cook books.
- Sister features. (Blog posts on our different perspectives on style, makeup, books, etc.)
- Lots of puppy pictures! (We are both dog moms that love our little fur-babies!)
- Devotions and inspirational posts.
- Every day updates celebrating the simple things!
What you won't find:
- Perfection. We are just normal girls who want to share our lives with the world and hopefully inspire someone along the way. We are always trying to be a little bit healthier, a little bit happier and a little more like Jesus.
- Expensive Outfit Posts. If you love Target, TJ Maxx and Old Navy, you will most likely love this blog. While we LOVE fashion and seeing expensive and fancy outfits on other blogs, we prefer shopping the clearance sections!
- Perfect Pictures. We are pretty new to the blogging world, so our photography skills will pale in to comparison of some of our favorite bloggers. But, we are committed to becoming better! So bare with us!
- Masks. We both have battles that we have faced and are facing. We don't have it all together and never want others to think we do. We will be sharing a little bit about things we struggle with in hopes that it inspires and encourages someone going through the same thing.
